The project aims to build capacity incorporating two strands of work i.e. climate proofing of district development plans and enhancing readiness to access climate finance in the states of Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Sikkim involving training workshops for key stakeholders both at state and district levels. The project will also undertake further research and study to narrow down on the key sectors vulnerable to climate change in the 2 districts, and prepare a tailored training module for the workshop based on field research and stakeholder consultations.
The key outcomes under the project are:
- Climate proofed district development plans in the six districts (two each) in three states across India.
- Enhanced capacity and knowledge to access climate finance and writing concept notes and proposals.
State Governments in India (Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh) have greater capacity and knowledge, as well as improved resources to access and deploy climate finance and tools to climate proof sub-national development plans.
